HOT DOG CITY

Ask me anything   LIZ SUBURBIA

Favorite panel from my submission for As You Were #3.

I know I’ve been super quiet but I’m working harder on comics right now than I ever have in my life. You’re all awesome and all your art looks incredible. XOXOXO

ATTN AS YOU WERE FANS!
A lot of people were asking for a poster of Liz Suburbia’s gorgeous centerfold drawing from issue one. Well, just a heads up, you’ve been heard and your wish has been granted! Scoop one up here if you are so inclined!
(And, while you’re at it, go ahead and stockpile a few extra copies of As You Were numbers 1 and 2 to leave in every bathroom you can find!)

THAT’S RIGHT, get ‘em while they’re hot! This print and an As You Were or two make great gifts: to someone you love, someone who needs more exposure to coolness, or just to YOU, FROM you, for being such a good kid this year. XOXOXO

Here, have another Tank Girl as a reward for being such sweetheart cheerleaders. Don’t you think it’s high time Tank Girl had a lady-identified artist? Me too.

#not that i'm passive-aggressively suggesting anything  #like hiring a certain me for the job  #OH GOD someone pay me to make comics already
I’m still working on Sacred Heart, I just haven’t been posting my work online because of Reasons (real reasons, not bullshit self-loathing reasons). My current day job makes it really challenging to make headway on it at the pace I got used to, and I still waste a lot of time meebling to myself that it’s not good enough. But I still believe in this story and I think y’all will dig it once it’s finally done. I’ll never know if all the hard work and self-doubt were worth it unless I finish the thing, you know? Root for me with me! LIZ! LIZ! LIZ!

When life gives you lemons, draw Tank Girls. First time using pencil in awhile; also check out baby’s first attempt at screentones up there. Confession: I kind of like moire patterns.

From the sketchbook, ballpoint pen. 2013 has come really close to being my Year of No Comics but I’m not dropping out of the game yet, believe it.
…edited to ask myself why the cigarette smoke is stationary while the hair and cape are blowing in the wind. Magic?

Okie dokie smokie, here’s what’s up - we (see above) are going to be representing at SPX this weekend! If you want to see me (Kevin Czap, artist of Project: Ballad, purveyor of Czap Books, hypeman for Cleveland, OH), Cathy G. Johnson, Liz Suburbia (the west coast can’t keep her down), and/or Matt Czap, come find table I1. That’s a capital Aye and the number One.

I’ll have a new mini comic called “Pace 1 Dies With Both Eyes On the Jackpot.” It’s part of a loose series I’ve been working on all year about the future. Please also make a point to take a look at my other new book A Lesson in Survival, which is practically newborn.

Check out Cathy’s tumblr for a thorough report of the things she’ll have - it’s a lot and I’m excited about all of it. http://cathyboy.tumblr.com/post/60566200933/my-spx-rundown-of-whats-going-on-i-know-my

Liz Suburbia makes her triumphant return to the DC area to debut Cyanide Milkshake #5. DAMN this one looks great. And that might not even be all! You may get more comics, if you can believe it.

And Matt’s going to be there signing autographs. Oh, you didn’t heard? He was the guy who did that Breaking Bad thing. And the Babies and Marriage comic? That’s what I thought.

Let me see your smiling faces and pinch your shining cheeks. We’re going to have so much fun.

SPX SEPTEMBER 14-15 - TABLE I1

Make this your first stop at SPX. Then come on back to the OOSA tables at the back of the room, of course.

I don’t think I could top the beauty of Kevin’s post at this juncture so I’ll just reblog this right here.

THAT’S RIGHT, I’ll be dividing my time at the Small Press Expo between the beautiful neon geniuses at table i-1 and the fine fine folks of Out of Step Arts at the back right corner of the convention floor.  I’ll have Cyanide Milkshake 5, copies of As You Were #1(Mitch Clem's punk anthology that I did a centerfold for), and the t-shirts OOSA printed.  I'll also be doing sketches and drawings for very reasonable prices! It's a long scary expensive flight and my household pretty much went broke sending me this year, so you BETTER come by and say hi/high five/get a hug/spend some dough.  Look at these WARES, man. How could you not?
